Where'd That Grass Come From?

Hello everyone!  Well it will soon be Thanksgiving…..You know that means that summer is officially over, right?

I like Fall, but wish it was still Summer……but looking at it another way, you get to wear those cool boots you bought in the Spring on sale, and nice chunky sweaters.

Fall is also a time for getting the garden ready for the winter.  We had a tree come down in a heavy wind about six weeks ago, and my idea was to create an ornamental grass garden in the empty space….However, the stump is just below the surface, and it was basically impossible to work the dirt.  It was supposed to have been taken out, or ground down, by the tree service guys, but they did a rather poor job of stump removal. The easiest way to fill the area where the stump remains, was to spread grass seed.  (You can see the dark circle behind the grass garden).  I moved the plan for the grass garden more into the centre of the lawn……”HEY!  WHERE’D THAT GRASS COME FROM?”

The new garden plot is pretty much complete.

I already had all of the grasses that were planted.  I did, however, buy the sedum, (the pink coloured flowers in the front).  Having all perennial gardens, you have to thin them out every couple of years, or they just get too thick.

My fabulous-looking crane was an amazing find at a garage sale for 50 cents. Funny, I was looking at an identical one in a garden nursery two weeks before this garage sale, and they wanted $29.95 for the exact same thing….same colour, same size.  “SCORE!!!!”

The crane didn’t have a pole, but the same garage sale had a lead pipe that I again scored, for 25 cents……

The 3 rocks, I got for nothing, from a neighbour.  The glass angel I made with 2 glass vases, and 2 glass plates. There is a solar light inside the body vase.

 It came through on Facebook.….

This is mine……(I no longer have the halo on her head).  I like the larger plates as wings, on the Facebook angel better…Oh well!  Next one…..)

It’s only been there a week, but I already have to add a small circle on one end, as I have a yucca plant in the back garden that needs more room.

Do you enjoy gardening and playing in the dirt?????

I’m quite pleased with the way my ornamental grass garden turned out…..I absolutely love my 50cent crane!

Happy Fall gardening…Until next time, Judy
