Beautiful weather! Beautiful weekend! Hope everyone had a fab weekend?
It’s hard to believe that another summer has gone, leaving us in the cold, so to speak.……..
I recently was able to take “AFTER” pictures of a redesign consult I did for a client, in the early spring of this year.
My client, Sylvia, was moving into a “GRANNY SUITE” in one wing of her daughter’s new home, and requested help laying out a floor plan for a huge “one-room” space that would combine living/dining and sleeping.
We spoke, at length in emails, about what furniture she already owned, the colour scheme she wished to go with, and my thoughts on layout.
Sylvia was doing the redesign on her own.
These are the “BEFORE” pictures…..
This is her entrance from the main front door of the house, (the open door). Her bathroom is also in this hallway….
The glass door leads out to a covered porch, and then the back yard.
I shall be going clock-wise around the space from the entrance hall…….
While I worked on a set of floor plans and room divider ideas, Sylvia had professional painters come in to paint the whole space a lovely golden/cream that she chose. (The colour here, is yellow with white trim).
Each window already has custom blinds which were remaining.
I gave her a story board, showing two floor plans for her furniture layout, pictures of numerous types of room dividers, (whether they were screens, draperies, or furniture pieces), and the colours she had chosen.
These are the “AFTER” pictures…..
Sylvia has beautiful furniture, but the biggest concern for her, was how to conceal the bedroom area within the open space of her “granny suite”.
After a lot of searching, Sylvia found these absolutely gorgeous solid wood screens from Pier One. She ordered 5 of them on the spot.
She has a sweet little kitchenette….
A gorgeous display in the china cabinet. Again, with red accent pieces gleaming through the glass…
Sylvia also purchased the electric fire-place/TV stand.
Showing how the room dividers were positioned for maximum privacy for the bedroom area.
Showing the privacy given to the bedroom with the screens.
Sylvia is extremely happy with the final result of her redesign. She created a warm, and inviting home, and feels very comfortable living in the space.
I am extremely proud of Sylvia also. I gave her my recommendations for how I saw her space upon completion, and she followed all the advice given. "GREAT JOB"!!!!!!!
The bathroom didn’t require any remodeling, other than a fresh coat of paint, and some accessories….
Well, that’s it for now, so have a great week…Until next time, Judy
