Today, I want to tell you about this fabulous window I picked up at an estate sale, for $5.00.
I bought it with the intention of hanging it on the garden fence. I wanted something pretty to look at from my kitchen window, instead of the fence boards....
I was able to leave the frame the original paint colour, giving the window a distressed look.
My intent was also to have some plants on a shelf I had to screw onto the frame...
I was able to re-use a plank of the oak flooring that we put in. It just happened to be exactly the right length, which saved me cutting to fit.
I painted the board with a cream colour paint I already had on hand, distressed it a bit, and sealed it with a varnish, then screwed it onto the window frame with some metal "L" clips.
I wanted the glass to look like there were lace curtains hanging as well, so I came up with a plan...
I had two different stencils already on hand, so painted my chosen patterns on the inside face of the glass.
Being Exterior paint, I didn't put any kind of sealer on my "Lace Curtains"....
The potted plants are not real, as I didn't want to have water constantly on the wood.
I think my fake lace curtains turned out not too bad. It does look like real lace from a distance.......
So, this is my view from my kitchen window, where I spend, it seems, so much time. Much prettier than the fence boards don't you think?
I hope you're enjoying your outdoor space.....Until next time, Judy
