Master Bedroom BEFORE AND AFTER -- 08/04/13

Master Bedroom BEFORE and AFTER—08/04/2013

Hello everyone, The weather this weekend was fabulous to get outside…hope it encouraged you to put the snow boots away and go for a walk!

Today, I am presenting a master bedroom that was in dire need of an up-date….

The room was extremely dark with the burgundy paint colour..

Even with the white bedding and curtains and trim, the burgundy over-powered.

The most dramatic way to redesign any room is by DE-CLUTTERING, ADDING COLOUR, and FURNITURE PLACEMENT.

The room was painted “Rivers Edge”, #510C-3 Behr paint, from Home Depot. The tangarine stripe was “Tangarine Dream”, #2108-5 also Behr paint, from Home Depot.

It’s amazing the colour change has made to the room. It feels so light and airy now, and even seems bigger.

New accessories were added to enhance the redesign of the room. The swagged light fixture was purchased at Rona. The turquoise lamps were a have-to-have, from Bouclair Home. The orange and white cusions, (which I totally love, love, love), came from Winners, as did the turquoise glass-ware, and orange sheet set. The “Sea-green” embroidered cusions were actually the starting off point for the colours chosen for the room make-over. They had been purchased a year before the redesign was started. They came from Walmart. The orange filigree ceramic tile behind the phone, on the night table, was another have-to-have, and was lovingly purchased from Home Sense, along with the orange owl purched on the small shelf.

Instead of purchasing art-work for the room, pictures were down-loaded from the computer and framed in existing white frames. Also, material from the home-made bed throw, was also placed behind one of the frames.

The white drapes were just that, WHITE DRAPES. Deep turquoise ribbon was sewn to the leader edge of the drapes to add texture and interest, and matched the throw perfectly.

The furniture placement remained exactly as it was, only due to the size of the pieces. However, they do work well where they are positioned.

As a redesign specialist, my goal is to transform a room using a home-owner’s existing belongings, combined, if necessary, with new paint colours, lighting, window treatments and accessories, making a BIG difference on a small budget.

So, have a wonderful week…..
Until next time……..Judy
