EIGHT more sleeps….YEAHHHHH!!! Can’t wait, how about you?
Sometimes it’s great to just be a tourist in your own city, or one close by. A short while ago, my husband and I were in Toronto visiting our youngest son, and got there a little early, so walked around viewing the sights.
We walked passed the beautiful windows of THE HUDSON’S BAY store on Queen Street. They are all done up for Christmas. ( I used to really enjoy seeing them too, when it was the EATON’S store. I think my favourite were always the windows at the Eaton’s store at College and Yonge Streets, but alas…..those windows have been gone for a number of years now). It’s so magical how they put the smallest of details into their themes, and all the working mechanical aspects for each section…..Have a look at the pictures to appreciate what I mean……
The carollers are singing carols under the gas lamp that is being lit.
You can buy a newspaper in front of the “Hudson’s Bay” store, while they make the traditional white wool blankets, with the Red, Yellow, green and blue stripes.
AT THE NORTH POLE, things are really, really busy. There isn’t much time left to get everything ready…..
"Santa made a list, and is checking it twice"…..the elves are still making toys at the work-bench…
and more elves are finding toys already made, to be wrapped for Santa’s sack, for all the good girls and boys….
With everything ready to go, Santa, Mrs. Claus and the elves have their Christmas dinner…..
They even have PLUM PUDDING…..
While Santa has his dinner, elves feed and water the reindeer…..
…and load up the sleigh…. because it’s Christmas Eve…
"The stockings are hung by the chimney with care…"
…and the final touches are made to the tree.
The children try to sleep, but the excitement is just too much for one, who sneaks a peek from behind the curtain.
Even the mice are tucked in their MATCH-BOX beds under the floor boards, awaiting Christmas…
Mother mouse prepares a scrumptious breakfast for Christmas morning.
If you’re able to get to see these windows, they are just magnificent.
Here’s wishing each of you a very MERRY CHRISTMAS, and a HAPPY NEW YEAR, and a fabulous HOLIDAY SEASON.
All the best for 2014…..Until next time, Judy
