It’s nearly HALLOWEEN!!!! So, I hope you have your costume picked out and the candy bought!!!!!
I’m going to be a witch, but a nice witch. I found a beautiful PURPLE witch’s hat, even though I already have the typical “BLACK” one….It was so pretty, I just had to have it. Up until that time, I had no idea what I was going to be…..
Anyway, today’s blog is about being a tourist, in an area that you grow up in, but never really see it through a TOURIST’S eyes…..
About 6 weeks ago, my husband and I went to Toronto to see a play, and chose to stay in a hotel over-night, even though we live just an hour north….We decided that we would be “TOURISTS” for a day, so picked an area in Toronto that we wanted to explore.
We chose the "DISTILLERY DISTRICT".…
The Gooderham and Worts Distillery was founded in 1832, and by the late 1860’s, was the largest distillery in the world.
Now, the DISTILLERY DISTRICT is full of boutique shops, cafes, galleries, restaurants, all housed within the heritage buildings of the former Gooderham and Worts Distillery.
We were fortunate, in that it was an absolutely perfect day, weatherwise.
We actually saw 2 wedding cerimonies taking place while we were there…..
There is a central square, and about 6 arteries branch out from it…
Love the vines growing up the wall…..
Every inch available, has been utillized for retail…..
Next to this space that sold chocolate, was a bar/grille with outdoor space, but what caught my eye, were these huge black metal lamp shades…..
They had a lacey pattern laser-cut around the bottom edge…
Artist’s work was displayed throughout the area….
When I took this photo, I didn’t realize that a BRIDE AND GROOM were on the inside of the truck, posing for their photographer……
The lovely clock in the centre square, makes an ideal meet-up spot, and a lost and found area, should you get separated….
Try being a "TOURIST" in a district you remember, but never took the time to explore in depth……
Have fun, and always have your camera ready….Until next time, Judy.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN everybody!!!! BE SAFE!!!!!
